Taroni – The art of silk

Founded in 1880 in the heart of Como, Taroni has been the leading source of couture silk fabrics.

Our deep-routed relationships with the major fashion houses is a tribute to our dedication to quality and customer service. We pride ourselves in having the most coveted range of colours in the industry where you can choose from or create something completely original and unique.

Taroni, one of the oldest silkweaving mills in Como, a company famous throughout the world as synonymous with luxury, elegance and quality of its fabrics.

The company was founded in 1880 thanks to Amedeo Taroni, a talented weaver and artist, who left traces of his creativity in the books of a valuable archive, jealously preserved and still consulted by his heirs as a source of inspiration.

In 1999, the heir, Giampaolo Porlezza, hands over the company to Michele Canepa, who takes control of the mill preserving the heralded Taroni tradition.

Michele Canepa’s long experience stems from having started working in his father’s textile company, carrying on a family weaving tradition of over two centuries, where he had the privilege to learn the technical intricacies of textiles by great masters.

His son Maximilian, CEO and Creative Director, is now dedicated to bringing TARONI up to speed with the modern world while still maintaining its long-standing traditions.

Our production is 100% Made in Italy.

The industrial culture of Taroni S.p.a. is centered on the refinement and innovation of industrial processes to satisfy the clients’ and customers’ requests of quality and creativity. The challenge we are facing is the integration of sustainability values in the vision of Taroni S.p.a. and in the production processes.

Taroni S.p.a. is at the forefront in the search of solutions that reduce the environmental impact to offer its clients and customers the best environmental, social and transparency standards.

For this reason, we decided to commit to the elimination of all hazardous chemicals, following the most rigorous current standards, those defined by Greenpeace’s Detox Campaign. On March 15th, 2016, Taroni S.p.a. publicly committed to the Detox Campaign and the moral responsibility towards clients and customers to comply with it.

Since November 24th, 2014 we are certified TF - Traceability & Fashion; we check the entire production cycle by single piece and not only by lot.

We are also certified and therefore authorized to produce GOTS fabrics (Global Organic Textile Standard), recognized as the most important standard for the sustainable production of garments and textiles made from natural organic fibers.

We are also OCS (Organic Content Standard) certified.
